We are seeking an experienced professional to strengthen our international renewable energy team in our Nairobi office with a particular focus on photovoltaic (PV) projects and related energy infrastructure. The successful candidate will contribute to the technical and project management aspects of large-scale solar projects while also supporting assignments in rural electrification, distributed energy systems and energy access programs.

This position combines technical expertise, project delivery and business development in an international consulting environment.

Your Tasks

  • Lead and manage PV projects across all project phases, from feasibility studies and concept development to tendering, construction supervision, commissioning and operation.
  • Provide technical consulting services to developers, investors, lenders, utilities and public-sector clients.
  • Act as Project Manager and technical focal point for national and international consulting assignments.
  • Perform technical assessments, feasibility studies, owner's engineer services and technical due diligence activities.
  • Review designs, technical specifications, EPC contractor deliverables and commissioning results.
  • Support the development and implementation of PV hybrid systems incorporating battery energy storage systems (BESS).
  • Contribute to projects involving rural electrification, mini-grids, off-grid power systems, solar home systems and distributed renewable energy solutions.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and manage interfaces with clients, contractors, financial institutions and public stakeholders.
  • Support proposal preparation, business development activities and the expansion of Fichtner's renewable energy portfolio.

Your Profile

  • University degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Renewable Energy, Civil Engineering or a comparable discipline.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in PV and renewable energy projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical consulting, engineering or project management for utility-scale or commercial PV projects.
  • Strong understanding of PV system design, yield assessment, grid integration and construction processes.
  • Experience with battery energy storage systems and hybrid renewable energy solutions is highly desirable.
  • Experience in rural electrification, mini-grid development, off-grid systems, distributed energy solutions or energy access programs is considered a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with international donor-funded projects (e.g. World Bank, GIZ, KfW, ADB, AfDB, EU) would be beneficial.
  • Experience working in African emerging markets is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in an international, multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid work permit for Kenia / East Africa and willingness to travel
