Your Tasks

- Provide expert advice and support to clients on biodiversity conservation aspects, specifically for large scale projects in the energy and infrastructure sectors, ensuring compliance with international standards and regulations of the host countries
- Perform biodiversity related impact assessments (such as Critical Habitat Assessments (CHAs), Priority Biodiversity Features (PBFs) Assessment, Ecosystem Services Assessment) for projects and develop Biodiversity Management Plans (BMPs) and other biodiversity related management and monitoring plans and procedures for projects
- Contribute to the development of Environmental and Social Management/Action Plan (ESMP/ESAP) focusing on biodiversity management and compliance aspects
- Conduct and/or supervise biodiversity specialist surveys in one or more disciplines (such as aquatic fauna, terrestrial fauna, botany, ornithology, bats) on projects according to internationally acceptable standards
- Coordinate various specific tasks including planning, liaising with related parties for biodiversity related data and mapping, engaging with clients on specialized scopes and deliverables, sourcing baseline data, reviewing and preparing specialist reports, and conducting site visits to project sites
Your Profile
- University Degree in Biodiversity Conservation, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Sciences, or related fields
- At least 10 years of experience in assessing biodiversity impacts, particularly in the energy and infrastructure sector
- International project experience, including working on biodiversity and environment conservation assignments in projects funded through International Finance Institutions (IFIs) in various countries (e.g. IFC Performance Standards, EBRD, EIB, KfW, World Bank, Equator Principles (EPs), ADB, etc.)
- Familiarity with international conventions and agreements related to biodiversity conservation frameworks and policies, such as the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), Ramsar Convention, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)
- Practical experience in developing BMPs, conducting CHAs, Ecosystem Services Assessments, and identifying PBFs in accordance with the international standards
- Demonstrated capability to collaborate and engage with various stakeholders such as government agencies, private companies, and community members, regional and national organizations
- Ability to provide technical expertise and guidance on biodiversity conservation strategies and best practices in different cultural and geographical contexts
- Ecological Flow assessment and modelling
- Experience in leading and collaborating within interdisciplinary and international project teams, demonstrating strong teamwork skills
- Capability and willingness to travel internationally as required for project assignments
- Fluent writing and speaking literacy in English (having knowledge of a foreign language, particularly French, would be advantageous)
- While a diverse ecological background is desirable, having expertise in a specific field such as aquatic fauna, terrestrial fauna, botany, ornithology would be advantageous
